The Alton Town Partnership, 66 High Street, Alton, Hampshire. GU34 1ET. UK.
Here is a street map of Central Alton.
The one way system is confusing for visitors to Alton.
The town centre could be said to be somewhere between outside The Swan Hotel in the High Street opposite Market
Street and the Market Square. Most of the shops
are in the High Street but there are many useful shops also on the side streets so it is worthwhile exploring.
If you are driving and wish to reach the town centre you have to approach from the north ie from Normandy Street
or the one way system will confuse you and direct you away from the centre. Once you get to Boots on the High Street
you either have to turn right and then turn right again into Amery Street to go round the town again. After turning
left up Vicarage Hill and then right at two successive mini roundabouts you re-enter the High Street.
If you continue on at Boots, you will be forced to turn left into Turk Street and at the junction with Drayman's Way, either left again to go
round the town again or right towards Sainsbury's. Hope this helps!
Parking in the High Street
is however limited to 15 minutes. There are many other pay and display car parks which are rarely all full.
(To confuse you even further, for copyright reasons, Drayman's Way which
joins the Relief Road to Orchard Lane is missing from this street map. See the East Hants or the Multimap links
above for an up-to-date picture. The Chamber of Commerce map also shows Drayman's Way correctly.)
You may need to scroll sideways to look at all of it.
